Elitism and Arrogance

Elitism, arrogance and deliberate bad grammar really irritate me.
So it’s like this.
On a forum which will remain anonymous a number of new users insisted on deliberately using short hand grammar usually associated with mobile phones. As far as I’m concerned this should remain in the realm of mobile phones and not rear its ugly head anywhere else. I can understand if a person genuinely has difficulty with grammar (I have a form of Dyslexia) but when its obviously down to pure laziness its not acceptable. So when such a scenario arose on an I.T forum, the offending poster was asked to refrain from using “text speak” as they can’t be expected to taken seriously if they can’t even bother to use grammar correctly.
All well and good it would seem, the poster in question refrained from using abbreviations and proved they could actually use correct grammar and spelling. All well and good in theory…
Then along come the elitist brigade shouting “Grammar Nazi!!” at anyone who pulled a person up for what is, let’s be honest, on the whole down to pure laziness. Quick enough to pull up a person but equally as quick to have a go at those who simply point out a bit of common sense for the benefit of the individual.
It beggars belief.
